| 2nd Annual HDDC Tennis Tournament
HERNDON, VA – August 21st, 2004— Players from the Washington, DC metro area participated in this year’s Second Annual Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce Tennis Tournament held on August 21st & 22nd as a fundraiser event in favor of Vecinos Unidos/Neighbors United, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the future brighter for Herndon children who are disadvantaged. In the regular open draw, Robert Nease prevailed 6-1, 6-0 over Larry Peterson in the championship match. As the winner, Nease was the recipient of the events Championship trophy and a 128MB USB Thumb drive. A consolation draw guaranteed all participants would play at least twice. On the consolation draw, Juan Gonzalez succeeded over Jimmy Huynh in a grueling match. This year also included a draw for the ladies where Heather Hill prevailed in a very close match 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) over Erlita Shiverly. Hill received the championship trophy and a 128MB USB Thumb drive.
All players enjoyed the facilities and commented on how nice it was to play indoors instead of in the dreary weather outside. Special thanks go to Bill Starh, Tennis Director, for making this event possible at Sports & Health Club of Worldgate.
The tournament also drew many other sponsors this year: For Health and Balance, who donated funding for the event as well as the one-hour massage consolation prize; Keohi Web Design, who donated the tennis balls for the event; Weichart Realty’s Lovette Llantos, who donated the water; All Dulles Area Muslims Society, who donated $500; Employee Benefits Group of Bethesda, who donated $250; and Cascades Technologies, who volunteered their time to make this event a success.
